Enjoy these quick tips for keeping ants and other crawly bugs out of the camper.
It may not be the only way to prevent ant infestations, but it certainly is an excellent first stage preventative measure in the process of keeping your camper bug free. Other things you can do to keep bugs out include these:
- Spray the parts of the camper which contact the ground, with surface spray to prevent crawling insects climbing in from ground areas;
- Sweep out food crumbs daily while the camper is in use;
- Wash all plates and utensils immediately after use and don’t store dirty items or uncovered food items on the benchtops;
- Keep the camper kitchen clean using a “cleaning spray” on all surfaces after use;
- Keep doors and screens on windows closed without sacrificing ventilation, but preventing bugs flying inside the camper;
- Clean and wash the floor before packing up the camper and spray with surface spray in preparation for the camper going into storage until next use;
- Store your camper in a clean area away from pests if possible, and apply bug spray to openings and vents where pests would otherwise enter;
- Be extra careful with food stuffs that attract ants and other bugs, like honey. Never leave it in a stored camper and wipe up spills and drips when they occur;
- Line the inside of storage or cupboard areas with a suitable material or matting that is impregnated with insect killer. (use safely near food)
- Remove and air bedding during and after each trip. Always use clean bed linnen and clean food crumbs from bedding if your camper rules allow eating in bed.
